Noor Hamwy

I am a third-year PhD student in Political Science at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. My research focuses on nationalism and political violence among minority communities. My research combines geocoding and qualitative interviews to understand what fuels, and what limits, violence and nationalist mobilization, with a focus on the MENA region.

Prior to graduate school, I worked as a Research Associate at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, where I coauthored publications in Globalisation, Societies and Education and sustainability. I hold an MPP from Hamad Bin Khalifa University (Qatar Foundation) and a BA in Economics and Public Health from the University of Washington. I speak Arabic, English, and intermediate Hebrew.
